Although still considered alt, the punk movement started in the '70's as the ultimate alternative lifestyle and has gradually become an almost acccepted part of our popular mainstream culture over the last few decades. Punks usually fall into the category of punk because of their choice of fashion, music, or attitude. They tend to sport mohawks, dye their hair, have piercings, wear big black boots, studded belts and jackets, and have an anti-authority air about them that they carry with them wherever they go.

Some punks are considered punks only because of their choice of fashion and hair styles. Other punks are called punks because of their punky hard-core attitudes, and some actually play good old three-chord punk rock music with screaming lyrics and heavy sounds. And many other punks fall into all these categories by playing punk music, donning punk style, and ripping a path through any room with their hard-core punk attitude.

Whatever the definition, history, or category of the term punk, it is almost always instantly recogizable when you see a punk on the street. There's no getting around how sexy and desireable a guy with a mohawk, bad attitude, and killer fashion can be. These bad-boys of the outcast world have another clear voice on this punk channel.
